The single best upgrade you can make to your boat.
Lead-acid batteries deliver usable power down to about 50% of their capacity — go deeper and you damage them. Lithium gives you 80–100% usable capacity, meaning a 200Ah lithium bank genuinely replaces a 400Ah lead-acid bank at less than half the weight. Lithium also charges three to four times faster and lasts up to ten times longer — typically 3,000 to 5,000 full cycles.
On a passage, this means your batteries are full by mid-morning from solar alone. At anchor, you run air conditioning, watermakers, and full electronics without ever touching the engine. The weight savings alone — often 150–200kg on a typical bluewater boat — improves sailing performance noticeably.
We install lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries exclusively. LiFePO4 is the safest lithium chemistry available — thermally stable, non-combustible, and specifically recommended for marine use. Every battery we install includes an integrated Battery Management System (BMS) that protects every cell against overcharge, over-discharge, and temperature extremes.
A lithium upgrade is never just a battery swap. To get the full benefit, the entire charging system needs to be configured for lithium — your alternator regulator, solar MPPT controllers, shore power charger, and inverter all need to work together correctly. We handle all of it, including DVCC configuration on the Victron Cerbo GX so every charging source is automatically coordinated.

Based in Cole Bay, St. Maarten (Sint Maarten), Nomad Marine Solutions serves sailors and liveaboards throughout the Caribbean — from Tortola, St. Thomas, and the BVI & USVI to Antigua, Martinique, Guadeloupe, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Grenada, Curacao, Bonaire, Aruba, and Puerto Rico. Whether you're in Simpson Bay Lagoon or cruising through the Leeward or Windward Islands, we're your Caribbean specialists for lithium battery upgrades.
How much does a lithium battery upgrade cost?
Costs vary depending on bank size and system complexity. A typical 400–800Ah upgrade including Victron integration runs between $6,000–$10,000 USD. We provide a detailed quote after assessing your boat's specific requirements.
Is lithium safe on a boat?
LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) is the safest lithium chemistry available — thermally stable and non-combustible. Every battery we install includes an integrated BMS that protects cells against overcharge, over-discharge, and temperature extremes.
How long do lithium batteries last?
Quality LiFePO4 batteries typically last 3,000–5,000 full charge cycles — 8–15 years of normal use. That's 5–10x longer than lead-acid.
Do you install in other Caribbean islands?
Yes. While we're based in St. Maarten, we work with boats throughout the Caribbean, including the BVI, USVI, Antigua, Martinique, and beyond. Contact us to discuss your location.
